Volunteer Resident Companion
We are currently seeking Volunteer Resident Companions to enrich the day-to-day life of our residents, and help improve their quality of life.
What will I be responsible for?
- Spending time with a resident on a one-on-one basis as well as group settings
- Participating in activities that align with the needs and interests of the resident
- Enhancing the resident’s independence and personal well-being by providing companionship and friendship, whilst building a meaningful connection
- Communicating any concerns that may arise to the Clinical team
What are the requirements of the role?
- Completion / attendance of mandatory training modules annually or as prescribed
- Reliable and able to commit to at least 2 hours per week
- Language other than English is encouraged
- Empathy, compassion, patience, understanding and willing to listen
- Strong relationship-building skills, as well as interpersonal and communication skills
- Confident in the use of technology, or willingness to learn
- Ability to adapt to a range of environmental circumstances
- Existing knowledge of dementia and behavioral management, or willingness to learn
- Must hold a current National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Check
- Maybe required to meet Child Protection Act requirements and hold a current NSW Working with Children Check clearance
