Road Worlds for Seniors 2021

Harbison residents have teamed-up again for the annual Road Worlds for Seniors competition, which runs from Monday 6th September to Friday 1st October 2021. With lockdowns in regional NSW extended, the Road Worlds for Seniors championship will provide important social and physical activity for residents.

harbison-road-worlds-for-seniors-2021-slow-speed-demonsRoad Worlds for Seniors was launched in 2017 in Bergen, Norway. It has grown rapidly, with increased interest and participation from older people living in residential care, people living with dementia and their families, aged care staff, local, regional, national, and international organisations.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020 Harbison represented Australia, receiving acknowledgement from Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW, and placed 24th in the world.

This year, Harbison is proud to represent Australia again with two teams riding five special THERA-Trainers at their homes in Moss Vale and Burradoo. This year, 250+ teams are competing from 11 countries including Canada, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Switzerland, Israel, Australia, and Singapore. Harbison’s goal this year is to ride at least 3,000km!

Harbison is very proud to be the first aged care provider in Australia to offer Motiview, and we are excited for our residents to have the opportunity to compete with other residents from around the world. Residents have an opportunity to train throughout the year, providing them with social connection, cognitive stimulation, and physical activity. harbison-road-worlds-for-seniors-2021-slow-speed-demons
